Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Creative Media Production (Television)

Delivered with a flexible model such as afternoon and evening classes enabling students to work whilst they study while still being able to apply for a full-time student loan through student finance. 

Entry requirements/criteria: You will need a minimum of 48 UCAS points from either a level 3 course such as A/AS level or an Extended Diploma or equivalent qualification such as an NVQ level 3 or relevant industry experience. You will require good written skills and ability to manage assignments and work placement. It would be advantageous to have a passion for working in a Media setting or related work and willingness to want to develop practice.

Students who are non-native English speakers and who have not undertaken their final two years of schooling in English, will need to demonstrate capability in English at a standard equivalent to Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2 or PTE 51 or IELTS 5.5; Reading and Writing must be at 5.5 or equivalent.

Information about the composition of the programme: Level 4 offers students a broad introduction to the subject area while gaining a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace scenarios. At Level, 5 students will a will develop a sound understanding of the principles in their field of study and will have learnt to apply those principles more widely. They will learn to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems. They will be able to perform effectively in their chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for employment in situations requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and decision-making.

Methods of assessment of the programme: Assessments and projects are chosen to help students progress to the next stage. Students are required to apply their knowledge to a variety of assignments and activities, with a focus on the holistic development of practical, interpersonal and higher-level thinking skills.
