
Why should you take this course?
This course is designed to provide high quality, employment-related learning with a focus on the engineering sector. Students considering this course should have an interest in going into Engineering as a career. During the course, you will develop your subject knowledge and employability skills, as well as practical skills related to Engineering.
Course content
You will study some of the many different aspects of Engineering and spend time in the workshop on practical activities, as well as developing your Physics and Math skills, and workshop skills. This will provide you with a good understanding of Engineering and the various applications and pathways you may follow in the future.
You will also develop your team working, time management and organisational skills, which will better equip you for further study or the workplace.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed on your skills during the course and develop a portfolio evidencing what you have achieved. You will also study GCSE Maths and GCSE Physics if you have not achieved a grade 5 or above in these subjects which are essential components of any engineering course.
Are there any special expenses?
You will need to purchase appropriate PPE for your practical studies in the Engineering Workshop, such as protective footwear, overalls, goggles, gloves, ear protection, and masks.
What could I do next?
If you choose to carry on with your study of Engineering, you can progress on to a related Level 3 qualification such as the T Level in Engineering or the BTEC Extended Certificate in Engineering.
