IT Transition Programme

Computers

Why should you take this course?

This course is designed to allow students to progress onto Level 3 study in IT, or to develop the technical and employment skills required to move into employment within the IT industry. Students considering the course should have a keen interest in computer technology.

Course content

You will learn practical skills in setting up, upgrading, and configuring computer systems. Alongside, you will improve your understanding of current and emerging technologies, develop knowledge of current security risks and how to mitigate these, and learn about relevant job roles in the IT industry such as working as an IT Support Technician.

You will also develop your communication, time management and organisational skills, which will better equip you for further study or the workplace.

How will I be assessed?

For the BTEC Level 2 Technical Certificate in IT Support, you will study three units which will be assessed through coursework, and 1 unit which is assessed by an exam.

Are there any special expenses?

There are no special expenses for this course.

What could I do next?

This course will provide you with a range of technical and employability skills that will be desirable to an employer for an entry-level role within the IT sector, for example working on an IT service desk or as a customer support technician. If you choose to carry on with your studies, you could then apply for a place on a related Level 3 qualification – for example the T Level in Digital Support Services.
