Why should you take this course?

This two-year course will provide you with the opportunity to learn what a career in accounting is likely to involve through a combination of in class learning, work-related projects, and an industry placement.

Course content

You will study a range of topics including:

• The business environment
• Careers within the finance and accounting professions
• Regulation
• Professionalism and ethics/equality, diversity and inclusion
• Security and risk
• Professional services
• Fundamentals of law
• Fundamentals of financial accounting
• Technology
• Data driven innovation/analytics and design thinking
• Research skills
• Project/change management and administration

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through two written exams and an employer-set project. You will also complete a skills-related project that synoptically assesses the performance outcome skills and associated underpinning knowledge related to accounting.

You will also undertake an industry placement of at least 315 hours across the two years that is related to accounting.

Are there any special expenses?

As an integral part of this course, students will be required to attend work placement which will incur a cost for travel. There may also be trips that enrich the curriculum which may incur an additional expense.

What could I do next?

Achieving this Technical Qualification will provide opportunities for progression into higher education or employment. Degree options could include Accounting, Finance and Business. Employment or apprenticeships could include roles in the accounting field such as accounting technician or taxation technician.
