This qualification aims to provide you with a range of specialist practical skills and technical knowledge, which will equip you to seek employment or further training within the Hairdressing industry.

Course content

This qualification covers a very wide range of skills and knowledge required for working in the hairdressing industry:

• Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon

• Hairdressing consultation support for colleagues

• Cut women’s hair to create a variety of looks

• Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques

• Colour hair to create a variety of looks

• Promote and sell products and services to clients

• Creative hairdressing design skills

• Photo shoot to complete creative unit

Optional units can include:

• Perm hair to create a variety of looks

• Bridal hairstyling

• Provide a hair extension service

You will work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and, where possible, work placements will also be provided. This practical-based training is ideal preparation for gaining employment in the Hairdressing industry or specialist further study.

How will I be assessed?

A service portfolio including evidence of practical service carried out with proficiency. Practical assessments are pass or fail. Online exams for a range of units.

Are there any special expenses?

There is a Hairdressing kit and uniform for this course.
