Bexhill College alumnus Charity Hammans visited the College recently to talk to English and Modern Languages students about her experience of studying Linguistics at Sussex University. On Tuesday the 27th of June 2023, all of our first-year students (over 1000!) took part in a progression day, Personal Statement Writing Workshop with the University of Sussex. Yesterday, Dr. Doug Haynes and Dr. Catherine Packham from the University of Sussex visited the College to speak to students from our English, Humanities, and Languages section about Liberal Arts. On Wednesday 10th May, Bexhill College alumnus Iona Murphy visited the College to deliver a seminar on Sylvia Path’s poetry to our A Level English Literature students. Iona studied A Level English Literature during her time at the College and went on to study a degree in English Literature. English Language students recently attended a fascinating talk from Alex Lazell, a Speech and Language Therapist. Students learned about the phonetic sound system, speech problems, and the role of speech and language therapy in helping especially young people develop their speech and language effectively. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about a practical application of the theory the students learn about in the A Level English Language course.
