Chess Enrichment Students take a trip to Parliament

On Monday 18th May, Bexhill College's Chess Club visited Portcullis House at the Houses of Parliament for a chess match against the Parliamentary staff and won 7-3. The students also had the opportunity to meet the MP for Bexhill and Battle, Keiran Mullan, where they demonstrated excellent maturity and interest in local issues during the Q&A session before touring Windsor Abbey and the chambers.

Debate Students Attend Regional Youth Parliament Competition

As part of their debating enrichment, eight first-year students were invited to the south coast regional heat of the European Youth Parliament debating competition. The day long event, held at Bedes School, gave students a chance to test their debating prowess against eight other schools competiting from the area. Ski Trip to Bormio, Italy

25 Bexhill College students recently went on a ski trip to Bormio, Italy. The students gave great feedback on the week, where they got 6 full days of skiing, with the beginners showing immense development in their ski skills and the advanced skiers further enhancing their techniques, with the highlights being able to ski from Bormio 3000 all the way down to the village, with some breathtaking views. Maths Integration Bee 2024

Last Friday, the maths department held its annual competition, The Integration Bee. Students compete against each other to solve integrals to decide who is this year's 'Grand Integrator'. After an impressive performance in all three rounds, this year's title went to first-year Further Maths student, Cindy Le! Well done to all students involved for making it a thoroughly enjoyable event.

Dance Live 2024

Last Thursday, our students travelled to the G Live Theatre in Guildford for the annual Dance Live event, where they competed against 6 other secondary schools and colleges with their piece Hypnotic Resurrection, which focused on the exploration of life giving you a second chance. Music and Enrichment students perform live in The Refectory

Our Music and Enrichment students delivered a fantastic performance live on The Refectory stage to mark the end of the term. Both bands performed renditions of popular songs which were highly enjoyed by large crowds at lunchtime. The students and Refectory staff watching on were very impressed by the bands playing. AMEX International Trading – Work-Related Learning At Its Finest

Before Christmas, our first-year Business and Economics A Level students took part in the International Trading simulation introduced by American Express.  Here students were  grouped into countries with varying amounts of resources depending on the country’s stage of economic development.  Students were to then produce output to trade and grow GDP for their economy.  Across both games, we had all students engaged and enthusiastic, with all showing strong negotiating, communication and teamworking skills. Student Social Action Project With The Marine Conservation Society

On Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th of June, 32 first-year students participated in a social action project with the Marine Conservation Society. The first day saw students learn about marine pollution and how to lead and coordinate a beach clean, before taking part in their own beach clean in the afternoon. On Tuesday this week, a group of 10 students visited the University of Cambridge’s Churchill College in Cambridge. They were invited as part of the university’s outreach work which encourages a diverse range of students from State education to apply to the university. There were seven colleges in attendance, all from the South East.
