Last week, as part of our cross-college Tutorial programme, all 2nd year students had Gambling Awareness sessions with Gamcare. The students discovered how gambling affects the brain, relationships, and factors to be aware of. Last week, our first-year Business and Economics A Level students took part in the International Trading simulation introduced by American Express. Here students were grouped into countries with varying amounts of resources depending on the country’s stage of economic development. Students were to then produce output to trade, and grow GDP for their economy. As part of our cross-college tutorial programme, all second-year students this week have had talks from the University of East Anglia, the University of Brighton, the University of Kent, and the University of Sussex. These talks have centred around Student Finance and accommodation, but also included information on budgeting so students – even those not going to university – can understand and consider finances when living independently.
