Accounting AAT Diploma and Business A Level (1st and 2nd year) students enjoyed meeting Dougal Fleming, Innovation Advisor for the Green Growth Platform from the University of Brighton. Dougal gave a fascinating talk on the “Circular Economy” and how this has impacted the economy as a whole, and how local firms are exploiting the opportunities it provides. He highlighted how the Southeast has become an important hub, supported by the University of Brighton, for innovative new techniques being developed to create a more sustainable economy.
This was particularly useful to the AAT students who will be involved in the financial management of many of these new businesses in the future. It offered a refreshing perspective to the more traditional manufacturing, retail and service industries they have studied and demonstrated practical areas where they can meet the demands placed upon them by their professional body, in helping companies embed sustainability into their corporate strategies.
This talk was part of national Green Careers Week and highlighted the College’s commitment to sustainability.
