On Tuesday, 30th June 2026, Bexhill College welcomed Year 9 students from Claverham Community College, Ratton School, Willingdon Community School and The Cavendish School for this year’s Make It Count Day.
The annual event provides young people with the opportunity to experience learning in a college environment, giving them a taste of what studying at Bexhill College is really like. Throughout the day, students took part in engaging lessons delivered in an applied style, encouraging them to explore ideas, share opinions and develop their understanding.
Make It Count Day is designed to build students’ confidence in using numeracy and quantitative skills, while introducing them to subjects where these skills play an important role, including Economics, Business, Geography, Psychology and Physics.
Nicola Garstang, Head of Politics, Economics, Business and Law, organised and led the event. She said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome students from four different schools to Bexhill College for this year’s Make It Count Day. The event reflected our commitment to providing valuable opportunities for young people across the local community. It was fantastic to see students fully engaged in a range of activities that encouraged them to develop their confidence with numeracy skills, while also challenging them to think critically and enjoy learning in a college environment.”
The event received excellent feedback from the students, with many commenting on how much they enjoyed the different approach to learning. One student said, “I have really enjoyed a new way of learning at Bexhill College today”, while another commented, “I had no idea how many courses were available to study at the college”.
Alongside the classroom activities, students also had the opportunity to explore the College’s facilities and find out more about the wide range of courses available to study after secondary school.
Bexhill College is delighted with the success of this year’s Make It Count Day and looks forward to welcoming even more students to the event in 2027.
