30 of our A Level PE students recently visited Chichester University for an immersive experience in sports science. The visit provided our students with hands-on experience in the following areas:
- Exercise Physiology: Students used cycle ergometers and Douglas bags to collect and analyse expelled gases, deepening their understanding of respiratory processes during exercise.
- Biomechanics: They worked with force plates and advanced technology to record and interpret movement data.
These practical sessions allowed our students to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world scientific setting. Additionally, the visit included:
- A presentation by a senior lecturer on university sports courses, offering valuable insights into higher education opportunities in this field.
- A comprehensive tour of the sports laboratories led by a current master’s student, providing a glimpse into advanced research facilities.
This experience has significantly enhanced our students’ understanding of sports science concepts and potential career paths in the field.
