On Friday the 9th of June, over 40 students from the Sport and Public Services section took part in the first Disability in Sport conference held at Bexhill College with the aim of raising awareness of disabled sport, the barriers to participation, to experience playing disability sports, and to learn how to become a more inclusive coach. The day involved taking part in several practical sessions from experienced coaches in the field of football, dance, cricket, tennis, Boccia, and New Age Curling. The students also had a Q & A with the coaches about their own experiences of coaching people with a variety of needs and some shared their own journeys as disabled athletes. A big thanks to our inspiring guest speakers Adam Field from adamfieldcoaching, Tyler Henshaw from Skiltek Sport, Christine Ward from Dance Ability, Adrian Gaylon from Active Rother, Aroop Tanna from Sussex Cricket, and Loretta Lock from Defiant Sports.
