Bexhill College Men’s 3rd XI Off To A Winning Start

Bexhill College Men’s 3rd team, in association with Chelsea Football Club Foundation, kicked off their 2nd XI League season in style, securing a 4-2 win away from home against Pass & Move Pathway.

With a mixture of students across all years, the first half was very tight until 30 minutes into the game before Connor Mcmanus, Phoenix Williams, and Sam Stockdale all struck within 10 minutes of each other to see Bexhill head into the half-time period 3-0 to the good.

Pathway began the 2nd half well and forced Bexhill to defend their box with greater regularity and pulled a goal back early in the period. Bexhill responded well to this and the points were secured through an excellent Harley Mason free-kick into the top left-hand corner from the right edge of the penalty box.

Pathway continued to press Bexhill and were rewarded with a 2nd goal before they forced goalkeeper Freddie Hensher into a save of the season contender, somehow clawing the ball from behind him from a matter of yards to prevent Pathway from reducing the deficit further. Bexhill managed to see out the remainder of the game without any further pressure to secure their first three points of the season.

The Academy Manager commented “The players have not been together for too long but you would not have been able to tell following this performance; as a group they were excellent and followed the instructions given to them well. We scored at very good times in the game and defended well in a disciplined performance.”
