Bexhill College student, Caden Crouch, completed work experience at London Fashion Week over the 17th and 18th of February 2023. Since attending, Caden has been asked to assist with a fashion show in Milan from the 22nd to the 24th of September 2023.
Reflecting on his time in London, Caden said:
“I didn’t know what to expect and I was quite nervous, but knew I had to do it as it could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It has been one of the best experiences and it has taught me so much and given me more knowledge of what I want to do with my career! During my time there, I did a wide range of things including networking, sewing dresses, assisting the models, getting content from the designers, and lots more. It was very busy. The role was challenging and tiring at times, and I ended up doing a 20-hour day, but I loved the experience.”
Caden also provided insight into how the opportunity came around and spoke about what advice he would give to students who are unsure if they want to do work experience:
“I’ve gained lots of contacts in the fashion industry and have even been asked to help with a fashion show abroad! I found it easy to gain this work experience, I communicated via email with the owner of the fashion show, which took me roughly 30 seconds. So, if I can do it, anyone can! My advice for anyone who doesn’t know if they want to do work experience, I will say you should give it a try. Whatever you want to do, you can give it a go, and if it’s not for you, it’s still great experience to have. You can add it to your CV, and if you work hard, you can also get a good reference from it.”
We’d like to congratulate Caden for his work at London Fashion Week and for being invited to assist with a fashion show in Milan, Italy. This is an excellent opportunity for Caden to expand and strengthen his knowledge, as well as continue to network and build connections within the industry.
