Bexhill College Development Football Academy contested an entertaining 3-3 draw against Claremont 2nd team in a friendly game split into 3 30-minute periods.
It was Claremont who took the lead after 12 minutes when the goalkeeper’s clearance was charged down and ended up in the back of the net. Just 3 minutes later their lead was doubled from a free header from a wide free kick. Bexhill’s response was a good one, and the deficit was nearly halved but the post came to Claremont’s rescue. However, on 29 minutes, Bexhill got themselves back into the game as there was no stopping a Matteo Vidali effort from 25 yards out as it rifled into the bottom left-hand corner.
It took just 4 minutes into the 2nd period for Bexhill to level the match. A fantastic advantage played by the referee after a foul on the halfway line allowed Carlo Caria to go through on goal and dispatch superbly into the bottom corner to make it 2-2. Bexhill were only level for a minute as a lack of communication at the back allowed the Claremont forward to nip in, round the keeper and tap into an empty net to instantly restore their lead.
With 6 minutes to go of the 2nd 30-minute period, Bexhill levelled once more. Once again, Carlo Caria found himself through on goal, 1v1 with the onrushing goalkeeper. However, before he could get a shot away, the recovering defender pushed him to the ground and a penalty was awarded. Edoardo Delu stepped up and despite the goalkeeper going the right way, dispatched brilliantly into the corner.
Going into the final minutes, both teams looked for a winning goal but there was nothing to separate them as chances were few and far between in the final period, with both teams having to settle for the draw.
