Bexhill College Men’s 1st team in association with Chelsea Football Club Foundation and in partnership with Eastbourne Borough Football Club, returned to league action following the Christmas break in stunning fashion, defeating Whitstable Town 7-1 in the National League U19 Alliance.
Missing a couple of players due to examinations, Eastbourne started the game brightly, enjoying long periods of possession and took the lead through Ash Latuske scoring from close range. Eastbourne added two more quick goals through Sonny Walsh to see the half-time score read 3-0 to Boro.
Whitstable to their credit started the 2nd half well and struck the bar inside 20 seconds before Harvey Jack saved well. Latuske and Leo Groombridge extended the lead further to kill off any hopes of a comeback before Latuske completed his hat-trick when for the 3rd time in the game, he scored from close range at the back post. Arthur Karapetyan completed the home scoring before Whitstable scored a late consolation goal to see the game finish 7-1 to Eastbourne.
Eastbourne manager Sean Noble reflected on the performance; “it was an excellent team performance and I am pleased for players to be able to extend their winning record to three games. It was pleasing to see so many 1st year players performing well and I am hopeful that this could be the catalyst to a 2nd half of the season which will see the team climb the table.”
