Bexhill College Women’s Football Academy, in association with Chelsea Football Club Foundation, were narrowly defeated 3-2 by BHASVIC 1st XI in yesterday’s home fixture.
After a heavy defeat at the hands of the visitors in the reverse fixture, the team went into the game with a clear aim; to better their performance compared to the last game against their opposition. The team certainly achieved that, with a combination of teamwork and tough tackling. On a chilly Wednesday afternoon, BHASVIC went 1 goal up after 15 minutes and converted again 15 minutes later. Despite going into the break 2 goals down, the team refused to give up.
After the interval, BHASVIC quickly added a third goal of the game. However, Bexhill continued to push forward, and Abi Tucker pulled a goal back with 12 minutes remaining. With just 3 minutes to go, Mia Connor scored a spectacular volley from a Poppy Harrod corner kick, setting up an exciting finish. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to claim a point, but it was a very solid display and a much-improved performance from the last meeting between the two teams.
