Bexhill College in association with Chelsea Football Club Foundation and in partnership with Eastbourne Borough Football Club secured a good 5-2 comeback win against Margate in the National League U19 Alliance.
In stormy conditions, Eastbourne started the game on the back foot and fell 2-0 behind inside 20 minutes with Margate taking advantage of some sloppy play and a strong wind.
As the first half progressed Eastbourne gradually gained a foothold in the game and enjoyed long spells of possession with stand-in keeper Fletcher Holman acting as a spectator in the lead-up to halftime. Ole Peterson scored a quick-fire double to restore parity and lead Eastbourne into the break on level terms.
Buoyed on from the strong finish to the first half, Peterson quickly completed his hat-trick to put Borough into the lead for the first time in the game. With the wind at their backs, Eastbourne strengthened their dominance, creating a host of opportunities with Peterson grabbing two more goals to complete the scoring at 5-2 in Borough’s favour.
Eastbourne manager Sean Noble explained “It was always likely to be a game of two halves due to the conditions, but I felt we handled them well and remained in the contest well. Full credit to Ole Peterson who took his chances well and has been in great form of late to secure the points.”
The victory sees Borough move up to fourth in the table, two points behind 2nd place Chatham Town.
