On Wednesday the 4th of February we had Nick Weight and Ian Wright, two representatives from the Burnt Chef Project, attend the college and spoke to the Level 2 Diploma in Culinary Skill catering students on Positive Mental Health in the Catering and Hospitality Industry. During the visit the students learnt about what was mental health, what could affect mental health in a positive way. They also discussed how to deal with issues that may affect mental health in a negative way, the students reacted very positively to the visit.
The Burnt Chef Project is a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to improving mental health awareness and support within the global hospitality industry. It was founded by Kris Hall as a Community Interest Company (CIC) aimed at addressing the mental health challenges faced by hospitality professionals, including chefs, front-of-house staff, and other industry workers. The project focuses on breaking the stigma around mental health, providing education, support, and practical resources to both individuals and businesses in the sector. Students walked away from this talk with a lot of invalueable knowledge and insight.
