Earlier this week, 40 of our first and second-year Law and Politics students visited the Houses of Parliament to experience a bespoke tour of the Palace of Westminster and undertook an educational session on debate and lawmaking. The first-year students proposed legislation on the death penalty and second-years debated votes at 16.
Students were able to visit the House of Lords and the House of Commons, and undertook a Q & A with Bexhill and Battle MP the Rt. Hon. Huw Merriman. Students asked pertinent questions about the Human Rights Act, expansion of the A27 and other transport links to the area, career progression within parliament, and local issues, such as waste being discharged into the sea.
