The Level 3 Diploma in Professional Cookery students were given the task of taking the ingredients provided, all donated by the WUTH charity (Warming up the Homeless), and creating two dishes that where nutritional, hot, suitable to be served in takeaway containers and tasted good. One dish was to be based on a meat protein and the other based on a vegetarian diet. The task was set by the charities Executive chef, Bes. The students came up with the ideas of creating a Sausage Casserole with vegetables for one dish and a Vegetarian Biryani for the second dish. They prepared the dishes all from fresh ingredients over the day and then placed the meals in the containers provided. These were picked up the same day and distributed that night. The Charity was happy with the dishes and there was good feedback to the students. This will be an ongoing event to help the local community and help the students to learn about social action and supporting others in need.
