Yesterday, the College hosted a Progression Fair to help our students gain more insight into their post-college options, and ultimately assist them in making a decision on their future.
We were pleased to welcome representatives from the University of Dundee, the University of Kent, Brighton Screen and Film School, Oxford Brookes, Chichester University, the University of Sussex, Southampton University (Russell Group), Reading University, the University of Brighton, the University of Essex, the University of Roehampton, the University of Surrey, the University of Portsmouth and the University of East Anglia. Alongside the higher education institutions, we were also joined by several Employer/Apprenticeship providers, including the Youth Employability Service, Sussex Police, East Sussex County Council Recruitment, East Sussex County Council Adult Social Care and Learning Disabilities Services, EasyJet, NursePlus, Chaffins, Factory Internet, Rother Voluntary Action and Hastings Voluntary Action. It was great to be joined by so many different university and work/apprenticeship providers. We believe offering our students the chance to meet a range of speakers who specialise in certain subject areas or work in different industries and working environments is vital to maximise the options they feel are open to them after they have completed their studies at the College.
We really appreciate our visitors taking the time to come and support our students. The thought of post-college life can often be daunting and not everyone has decided on their next move. The Progression Fair was a great opportunity for our students to further assess not only their higher education options, but their industry pathways as well.
The fair was open to all students and over 300 attended throughout the day, creating a lively, bustling atmosphere in our conference room. We were delighted to see so many of them interacting with our visitors, who equally enjoyed the experience. Jo Saxby, the Service Manger from Factory Internet said “It was great to be able to engage with students at Bexhill College, there’s a clear skills shortage in technology within the Southeast, so for us to have the opportunity to engage at that stage of a student’s studies is invaluable to Factory. We look forward to facilitating work placements and engaging further.” Factory Internet is a Hastings-based employer in the local area, who provide employment and apprenticeship opportunities. They bought along their level 3 and level 4 apprentices to speak with students. Factory Internet have also work with Bexhill College on the development of the Digital Support Services T Level.
We look forward to welcoming back our visitors in the future and we thank them for their contributions to development and progression of our students.
