Primary Schools Experience Engineering at Bexhill College

Bexhill College was proud to take part in a fantastic initiative in collaboration with the East Sussex County Council Employability and Skills team and the Royal Academy of Engineering. The aim was to inspire the next generation of engineers, an ambition that Bexhill 6th Form College supports and is genuinely excited about. We are passionate about shaping a future in which engineering is widely recognised, understood, and embraced as a vital and dynamic career path within East Sussex and Nationwide.

The primary school learners were able to see engineering take place in a fully functioning workshop and this was inspiring for them, especially when they saw the components manufactured all fit together to produce a trophy.

We introduced them to key engineering in a specific engineering sector of aerodynamics, discussing careers, technical theory, implementation of the theory in Glider making and the importance of testing and trialling which they thrived on, especially with the competitive edge to flying their gliders.

We had some extremely positive feedback from Amy Morris, Partnerships and Projects Officer of the Employability and Skills Team (working for both the Economy and Education Divisions), saying how much they valued the opportunity for the college to support them in such a positive way.

The young students were engaged, enthusiastic and an absolute pleasure to work with and hopefully in a couple years, future students at Bexhill 6th Form College.
