Work-Related Learning: Culinary Skills students visit South Lodge Hotel

Our Level 2 Diploma in Culinary Skills students took part in an inspirational visit to South Lodge Hotel, an Exclusive hotel with a restaurant that holds 4 AA rosettes and a Michelin Star. While there they had the opportunity to tour the hotel, spa, bar, kitchen and restaurant facilities.

The Executive Chef, Lewis Hamblet, gave the students a demonstration and instruction on one of the dishes on the menu, which they were able to try. He then set them a flavour and taste challenge, they also had the chance to be given instructions and a demonstration on how to produce mocktails from the bar manager, who then challenged them to recreate the drinks demonstrated.

Andy Mackenzie, head of the Exclusive Chefs Academy spoke to the students about the Academy as a progression route after they have completed their Level 3 Catering qualification.

After their day out at South Lodge, our students were left inspired by what they had been taught.
