On Wednesday 7th December, Bexhill College was visited by the Bexhill Rotary Club and Councillor Lynn Langlands for the final collection of the ‘Tin in a Tub’ campaign. The Bexhill Rotary Club are part of an international organisation that aim to support local communities and all groups within; the young, the elderly, the disabled and the disadvantaged. They also raise funds for charities locally, nationally and globally as well.
Councillor Lynn, who is a former Mayor of Bexhill, has been working closely with the College recently. Last month, she supported our Fashion students as their employer link for their Warming Up The Homeless ‘Upcycling’ Project and over the past couple of weeks, she has worked with the College’s Prince’s Trust students and staff members, and Student Activities Officers to coordinate the promotion and collection of donations for the College’s campaign. The aim of the campaign was to gather donations of tinned food, all of which will go to Bexhill Foodbank, who provide an invaluable service to the community of Bexhill and its surrounding areas.
Throughout the campaign, the Student Activities Officers planned and hosted specific campaign-themed activities to increase student involvement and awareness for the campaign. The Prince’s Trust group have been heavily involved too, handing out flyers to their peers and staff members for promotional purposes, and assisting with the collection.
The campaign saw outstanding results, with the number of donated tins amounting to over three full tubs! Councillor Lynn and Rotary Club members were very impressed with the campaign’s success, praising all the efforts and contributions that went towards it. The College is very grateful to all of the students and staff who donated. Their contributions will no doubt make a lasting impact in the local community, especially during such challenging times for families and individuals. A huge thank you must go to the Bexhill Rotary Club, the College’s Student Activities Officers and Prince’s Trust group, and Councillor Lynn for all of their hard work in the past few weeks.
