On Wednesday 11th October, Bexhill College in partnership with Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS), hosted the first Hub School event. The College welcomed 15 Year 10s from The Cavendish Secondary School in Eastbourne, to a session on designing a pathogen! Pupils received information about diseases and how interaction with viruses and bacteria can cause serious illness. After a short presentation and discussion-based tasks, the pupils then designed their own Pathogens, to battle against one another in a Top Trump style.
This was the first in a series of activities as part of the Hub School Programme, created by the Outreach team at BSMS to provide information, advice, and guidance to Year 10s, 11s, and 12s on careers within medicine and how to make a successful application to medical school. If your school would like to be involved, please email careers@bexhillcollege.ac.uk.
