Between Wednesday the 26th and Friday the 28th of June, Bexhill College students once again participated in various activities as part of their social action and work experience days.
On Wednesday 26th June, the students participated in a 10km sponsored walk for Bexhill Foodbank to promote the important work the Foodbank does throughout the local community.
Many generous donations were received which will go towards combatting food poverty within our area.
On Thursday 27th June, students were at Ravenside Retail Park, outside Tesco and in Bexhill town centre collecting money, food and household essentials for those going without. You can also head over to the link below to donate.

On the 26th and 27th, a number of students also ran a clothing swap shop. The swap shop aims to combat clothing waste that would end up in landfills and the issues surrounding fast fashion, whilst also fighting clothing poverty within our local area. Relying solely on donations, items were kindly provided by staff, students and members of the local community. Students then sorted through and organised the clothes appropriately, before promoting the swap shop to staff members and their student peers. By the end of the event, there were around 30 bags of clothing left, all of which were collected at the end of the week by Warming Up The Homeless.
The week also saw Social Sciences students lead and coordinate a beach clean. Whilst gaining knowledge of conservation and marine wellbeing, students developed key skills including communication, leadership and teamwork. Several pieces of litter were collected in the morning across a vast stretch of Bexhill beach. In the afternoon, the students took part in an art workshop, producing artwork based on materials and objects collected on the beach. The finished pieces were displayed during the College’s end-of-year art exhibition showcase.
Well done to all involved!
