Students from the IT Extended Diploma and Media T Level programmes impressed at the Digital Futures Showcase with their design of a new app FreePath — a real-time accessibility app designed to support people with disabilities. Guided by mentor Will Callaghan, the team pitched confidently to a panel of industry experts and earned three awards:
- Best Pitch
- Innovation Award
- Best Overall Post-16 Project
The showcase was part of the Digital Futures Accelerator, a project led by East Sussex Careers Hub and TechNative Digital and funded by the Careers and Enterprise Company. It aims to inspire young people across East Sussex to explore tech careers and develop real-world skills by connecting students, and industry.
FreePath reflected the team’s passion for inclusive design and the power of student-led tech innovation. Congratulations to George Aston, Samuel Blease, Eve Richardson, Shinji Sasakura Harrison Baxendale and Amellie Hurll for this excellent achievement.
