Work-Related Learning: Creative Media students introduced to professional brief by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service

For the second year running, the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service have set Bexhill College Creative Media students a professional brief. This year, students have been tasked to produce a marketing campaign to appeal for public donations to refurbish the Merryweather, which is an 1895 horse-drawn, steam-powered fire engine. Once promised to Bexhill Museum in 1920 after years of service to the town, the Merryweather went on its travels elsewhere, and now more than 100 years later it’s finally coming home.

Students must work within production teams to produce persuasive moving-image material to help raise money for Project Merryweather and to bring their history to life through videos on their history website and other channels. To deliver this brief, Elizabeth Curtis, Marketing and Communication Manager, came into the College to present to the students and answer their questions.
