Continuing our relationship with Chestnut Tree House, Jayne Todd (Community Fundraising Manager) visited the College today and spoke to 35 students about the charity and importantly the skills required to run events that raise funds. The students are studying the Level 3 Business Extended Diploma and the T Level in Management and Administration.
Jayne gave an insight into the support that the hospice provides to young people between the ages of 0 and 19, as well as their families, and the students asked questions and gained an understanding of the importance of the work they do. They were understandably surprised to hear that it costs £6,000,000 per year to run the facilities in Arundel.
Following her presentation, Jayne introduced the £50 challenge – the students will be working in small groups to turn their £50 start-up capital into a surplus to donate to the charity. Importantly, the students will need to demonstrate communication skills, organisation, commitment and management of themselves and others.
Beck Brann, Deputy Head of Section said: “Thank you Jayne for inspiring our students, it is so important for them to be able to put into action the skills they are learning about in the classroom.”
Jayne wished the students good luck with the challenge and looked forward to hearing about the events the students put on.
