The UN-recognised charity, The Carbon Literacy Trust, has officially certified a landmark 150,000 people as Carbon Literate across seven continents.
Here at Bexhill Sixth Form College, we’re thrilled to have contributed to this milestone figure.
We had the second largest cohort in the country of students who had been trained in Carbon Literacy and were among the top 20 training organisations overall.
We’ve trained over 400 students from our previous Year One cohort in Carbon Literacy, contributing to this milestone figure, and are training our current Year Ones now.
The training has been instrumental in ensuring everyone has the same base level of understanding about climate change and how they can do their bit to not only support, but accelerate our college’s wider sustainability goals.
Carbon Literacy training has created a culture in which our students are equipped and motivated to take significant action to reduce our college’s carbon footprint.
When The Carbon Literacy Project reaches its goal of one million certified learners in 2030, we’ll be beyond proud to say that Bexhill College students belonged to the first 150,000 Carbon Literate pioneers taking action to achieve a zero-carbon future, and we’re determined to continue our efforts to help achieve this goal.
