The Animal Management department at Bexhill College has been awarded a Bronze Award for their contributions to hedgehog conservation and making our campus hedgehog-friendly.
In recent years, the UK hedgehog population has depleted drastically (since 2000, the population has fallen by about 30-75%). The College started the Hedgehog-Friendly Campus project in January and has since been completing actions towards a toolkit to achieve our bronze accreditation. Animal Management students took the lead by becoming ‘hedgehog champions’ and needed to complete a minimum of 10 actions. They ultimately completed 15 actions.
