Business and Economics students were set a work-related learning task by local entrepreneur Chloe Wilkinson of The Good Grub in Eastbourne where they embarked on a challenge to use their entrepreneurial skills to turn a £1 loan into a profit with the profits raised going to the Bexhill Food Bank to help those in need within the community.

Chloe said “When I set this work-related task I never, in my wildest dreams thought you (the students) would embrace the project so passionately. To collectively raise £1771.01 profit is an incredible feat and a testament to the creativity and determination you have shown.
From organising events such as sponsored runs, cake sales, bin spraying, car washing, and selling breakfast to teachers, you’ve shown entrepreneurial skills akin to those I have needed to use over the past few years, particularly recently when I have had to think of ways to grow my business. These skills are not only vital for becoming an entrepreneur but also when working for someone else and you can be sure that the skills you have demonstrated will make you stand out in the future.”
Economics student Charlie Saunders who, with his team made over £500 profit commented on the work-related learning project, “I found the entire experience extremely insightful into the ideas of entrepreneurship, the task of coming up with our money-making idea and bringing it to life was a challenging but rewarding process. Not only am I thankful for the knowledge and hands-on experience it gave us, but I am also beyond happy that we were able to raise as much as we did”
Jenni from the Bexhill Food Bank showed her gratitude by commenting “Recently, as to be expected, everyone is struggling with the cost of living and our donations have gone down considerably. We are thrilled at the amazing amount you have donated and this will go to top up the physical donations of food and essential items. We are most grateful for your continued support which is greatly needed at this time.”
